Trained under the master of underglaze blue, Choza Yamamoto, Mako Kawakami expresses a delicate world through meticulous brushwork. While honoring classical traditions, she captures them from a fresh and original perspective.
藍の濃淡だけで広がる奥行きのある世界。余白の美しさも川上作品の魅力です。
切り取られるのは古典物語の一節やモチーフ、動植物や風景。その視点のどれもが新しく、ユニークでありながら、決して失われない優美さと、万物への畏敬がそこにはあります。
Her works unfold a sense of depth using only the shades of indigo. The beauty of negative space is also a hallmark of her art.
Excerpts from classical stories, motifs, plants and animals, and landscapes are brought to life in her compositions. Each perspective is both innovative and unique, yet never loses its inherent elegance and reverence for all living things.

真子さんの描く干支の器を集められている方も少なくないのではないでしょうか。今年も干支小皿の他、何とも縁起の良い、海の幸・山の幸が描かれた器が届いております。生き生きとユーモラスに描かれた鶉に魚類。良いことが起こりそうな予感。

HemingArts’ annual New Year exhibition has become a tradition. Many collectors may already have Mako’s zodiac-themed vessels in their collections. This year, in addition to the zodiac small plates, we are delighted to present vessels adorned with auspicious designs of treasures from both land and sea. Quails and fish are rendered lively and with a touch of humor, evoking a sense that good fortune is on the horizon. We hope you will enjoy this year’s exhibition as much as ever.
