Kota Arinaga uses an original technique that is derived from the traditional technique of Venetian lace glass making. His craftsmanship is unparalleled, creating true masterpieces.
個々のガラスが溶解され結合され、溶解され結合され、それを繰り返し、有永さんには必然的で私たちには偶発的にも思える作品が出来上がっていきます。
Each piece of glass undergoes a cycle of melting and gathering, repeating the process multiple times. Mr. Arinaga knows what this repetition creates, so the resulting design is inevitable. But to the lay person’s eyes, the result is coincidental and magical.
凛とした緊張感と自然が見守るような安心感のある独特な空気の中、黙々と孤独を楽しむように、有永さんはリズム良く進んでいきます。
When Kota Arinaga is at work, there is dignity and tension. There is also a peacefulness as if he is guarded by nature itself. He proceeds rhythmically, enjoying the quiet and solitude.
美しい作品を作り上げるためのような腕や感覚、無骨で剛健な道具たち、無口なだけにそれらは正直で美しい。
His arms create beautiful works. His senses, unique and distinct. In his hands are unpolished, but sturdy and trustworthy tools. In his quiet presence, all things are honest and beautiful.
島の高台にある工房には音はなく、樹々を抜けた海風が心地よく工房を通り抜ける。In the workshop perched atop high ground, we hear nothing. But we feel the sea breeze, pleasant against the skin.
自然に抗わず、その重力だったり、天気だったり、道具だったり、自身の身体だったり、万物を味方につけて、宇宙の方程式から生み出されたかのような作品たち。

Kota Arinaga works with all elements of nature. Gravity and weather. Tools and his own body. Everything becomes his allies. It seems as though his works are created by the cosmic formula.
